Luna's Cafe began in 2020 as a food truck in San Francisco by Dianna and her mom, Natalia. What began as a dream of sharing their abuelas recipes, turned into a love for sharing delicious foods with their community. Dianna is a first-generation American, with her mom immigrating to San Francisco during the Central-American Civil War. Growing up in a very Salvadoran household, Dianna enjoyed handmade tortillas, pupusas, pan con pavo during the holidays, and Salvadoran sweet bread. Watching her grandma and mom cook solidified her love for food, and saw firsthand how cooking brings family together.
After Dianna's great-grandmother passed, she left her hand-written recipes to her grandmother, who in turn shared them with her daughter, Natalia, and now Dianna. These little index cards have been shared with four-generation of women, and each them has found it to be a reminder of where they came from. We use food to bring us together, whether that is family or friends. Food a symbol of togetherness and wanting to be able to reunite. Our hope is to share the generations of love and food from our family to yours.
